Frankenstein is a novel infused with some elements of the Gothic novel and the Romantic movement. Not romantic like love, flowers and peace, it's these romantic where the artist shows a lot of feelings and intensely. It was also a warning against the "over-reaching" of modern man and the Industrial Revolution, alluded to in the novel's subtitle, The Modern Prometheus. The story has had an influence across literature and popular culture.horror stories and films. The novel raises many issues that can be linked to today's culture.
There are some differences between film and the book that we have written at class for the exam. Here you are some of these.
In the film:
- Victor met Henry Clerval in the university, and in the book, they are childhood friends.
- In the film only apear one Victor's brother, William. In the book he has two little brothers.
- Henry dies in the book but not in the film.
- Elisabeth has got brown hair in the film, and in the book she is blond and blue-eyed.
- Felix and Agatha, the family of the forest, in the film they are married, and in the book they are only a couple of brothers.
- Victor wasn’t accused about the deaths in the film but in the book he rests on the tribunals for a few hours.
- The film doesn’t show that Frankenstein saved the girl in the river, and that after her father shoot him.
- Victor remakes Elisabeth like a monster.
- The monster kill Elisabeth. He pulls her heart out of the body, it's horrorible.
